Zijerveld, founded by the Zijerveld family, has been a trading house from time immemorial. Through the years, Zijerveld has proven itself to be an excellent supplier of a total assortment of Dutch and foreign cheeses and related products. Based on the customer’s principles, Zijerveld offers innovative concepts that are custom-packed, flexibly put together and delivered by its own logistical services. Zijerveld’s total assortment is marketed by four market units, namely Classic Retail Benelux & Out of Home, Modern Retail Benelux & Online, Wholesale & Packaging and International Markets. The total assortment includes four mainstays with which Zijerveld distinguishes itself on the market, namely North Holland cheese, Dutch farmhouse cheese, goat's cheese and foreign cheese.

History
Our roots
At Zijerveld, we can boast more than a century of experience with cheese. We are very proud of this history. Zijerveld’s roots go back to the beginning of the last century. At that time, Zijerveld was one of hundreds of cheese wholesalers in the Netherlands. This number began to diminish as centralisation and specialisation gained ground. Zijerveld chose to develop in a different direction. We began to realise clear growth on the basis of expertise, commitment and vision. And these are values that we still put into practice every day.
Step towards the retail channel
Zijerveld combines the best of the world of cheese in a single company. In 1989, Dutch cheese specialist Zijerveld merged with foreign cheese specialist Gebroeders Veldhuyzen. Under the name of Zijerveld & Veldhuyzen, we were then able to provide our customers with even better service. Ten years later, we followed that up by taking the step towards the retail channel.
Total solution
Nowadays, we can really offer our customers a total package when it comes to cheese and related items. Zijerveld is active throughout the entire chain. From products to logistical services, our aim is to provide added value wherever we can. Value for our customers with different concepts that can be used directly in different channels. Through the years, we have integrated an extensive range of cheeses and related products into our assortment.
FrieslandCampina
In 2013, Zijerveld was acquired by FrieslandCampina. For us, this was a strategic step that enabled us to create an autonomous position in the group. We have continued to operate with our own identity and under our own name.
